SOL DEF05
a powder defoamer refined from a variety of modified polydimethylsiloxane components. It is highly efficient in eliminating foam in water- bearing systems. Conventional silicone-emulsion-based defoamers are susceptible to emulsion breaking under high shear, leading to the coagulation of the active component, nullifying its defoaming capabilities. This is particularly so in strongly acidic or alkaline systems. Being powder-based, SOL-DEF05 circumvents the above pitfalls of its emulsion counterparts. SOL DEF05 can be easily dispersed in a carrier, allowing fast defoaming speed and long-lasting foam suppression.
Application
- SOL DEF05 is specifically used to inhibit and eliminate the harmful bubbles released during the rapid hardening of cement. Bubbles are intrinsically generated upon the addition of water reducing agents to the cement. The addition of the water reducing agent is required to facilitate cement solidification, yet, the bubbles are detrimental to the hardening process. During mixing, air gets trapped within the cement slurry, reducing its density, leading to an inaccurate real-time measurement value. This discrepancy can mislead field operations, compromise cement quality, shorten cement thickening time and affect fracture formation integrity.
